Participation of the Competition Council in consultation with the World Bank in Tbilisi, GEORGIA

     Between 25 to 26 September 2014 in Tbilisi, GEORGIA were held consultations on the review of the World Bank's Procurement Policy. At these consultations Competition Council was represented by Mr Ion TARNA, Deputy Head of the Legal Department.

     During the meetings was discussed the new policy document of the World Bank in procurement, and addressed aspects of the ways to ensure the process of procurement in compliance with competition rules.

     World Bank representatives presented the new concept of procedure and policy to be applied to procurement, one of the main pillars of the presentation was focused on creating new mechanisms for conducting international competitive tenders.

     During the consultations was discussed the need for effective international competitive tenders, in condition of transparency, in order to ensure equal rights of all participants in these procedures.

     Participation in the consultation organized by the World Bank was a useful one, as the new knowledge was accumulated on the procedure for the public procurement in terms of their impact on competition as well as the new World Bank policy document on procurement.
