Participation of the Competition Council in Reunion of the Energy Community Competition Network in Athens (Greece)

     Between 17 to 18 September 2014, the official delegation of the Competition Council of the Republic of Moldova, led by Mrs. Viorica CARARE, President of the Competition Council, participated in the third Reunion of the Energy Community Competition Network (ECCN) and the second joint Reunion of the Administrative Council of the Energy Community (ECRB) and the Energy Community Competition Network.

     The event took place in Athens (GREECE) and gathered the  regulatory authorities in energy and competition authorities from member countries, as well as the representatives of the European Commission DG COMP, in order to address problems identified in the cooperation  process between these institutions.

     During the event were highlighted methods of investigation in cases of anticompetitive practices in the energy markets and institutional barriers that might arise in these processes.

     Participants were exposed to the need to boost cooperation between energy regulatory authorities and competition authorities in order to raise the welfare of consumers.
