Working visit of Mrs Viorica CARARE, President of the Competition Council to Washington (USA)

     Between 25 - 28 March 2014, at the invitation of American Bar Association Section of Antitrust Law, Mrs Viorica CARARE, President of the Competition Council conducted a working visit to Washington DC (USA), where she attended the 62nd Meeting of Antitrust Law organized by American Bar Association and the Roundtable on the investigation, organized by the Federal Trade Commission of the United States.

     Meeting of Antitrust Law is the largest antitrust and consumer protection Conference in the world, whose purpose lies in the exchange of knowledge on all aspects of competition law and consumer protection.

     During the event was discussed situation of emerging markets, namely their de-monopolization and liberalization. In particular was mentioned the problem of excessive regulation by the State of sectors considered as priority. This does not allow an efficient operation of competitive mechanisms and prevents its development. On this occasion was held a debate on the difficulties faced by Moldova in this sector, were established solutions and collaborative actions that will be taken to resolve them.
