Starting from September 10, 2024, a new Map of state aid for regional development in the Republic of Moldova, valid for the period 2024-2027, entered into force. It was approved by the Plenum of the Competition Council through the recent amendment of the Regulation on the evaluation of state aid for regional development.

The Map of state aid for regional development of the Republic of Moldova is the act that identifies the regions eligible for granting state aid for regional development, as well as the maximum allowable aid intensity for each region.

The New Map establishes that the maximum level of state aid intensity for regional development is 60%, being higher than the previous one by 10%.

This update of the Map will help increase investment and create new jobs by providing businesses with more resources for development and thus encourage economic growth in the regions of Moldova.

The amendments are part of a broader effort to align national legislation with that of the European Union, in line with the commitments made by the Republic of Moldova through the Association Agreement with the European Union. The new regulation reflects the European Union's Guidance on regional state aid.

Note: State aid is any measure of support granted to undertakings which cumulatively meets the following conditions: it is granted from State resources; confers on the beneficiary an economic advantage which would not have been obtained under normal market conditions; is granted selectively; distorts or risks to distort competition.
